ÉCOLE JEAN-BAPTISTE POINTE DU SABLE (EJBPS)

EJBPS is free for children living in Saint-Marc, covering the costs of uniforms, shoes, teaching materials, medical care, staff salaries and a school feeding program.

EJBPS: Entrusted to PRODEV in 2021

École Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable (EJBPS) is a private community school built in 2010 by the Hand in Hand for Haiti Foundation. The school is named after Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable, a native of Saint-Marc who went on to become the founder of Chicago, Illinois, USA. The school offers instruction in three languages: French, English and Kreyol.

In July 2021, due to rising incidents of insecurity and violence, the Hand in Hand Foundation invited PRODEV to manage its school. We were selected because of our proven record of transparency, experience and measurable outcomes. PRODEV assumed full responsibility for the fiscal and academic operations of EJBPS.

The school has also strengthened parental involvement through awareness sessions on best practices for supporting children’s education at home. These efforts have helped establish EJBPS as a model school in the commune of Saint-Marc. Its students have achieved remarkable success, winning the 2024 reading competition organized by Vive Haïti Livre, followed in 2025 by first place in the puzzle competition at the Mosaïque Festival organized by Nisa Club—marking the second time the school claimed this victory.
