EDUCATION IN EMERGENCIES
In times of crisis, children living in communities under attack, need safe access to learning and trauma informed care. Haiti’s overlapping social and political crises, Peyilock shutdowns, natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes) COVID-19, gang violence, and on-going political turmoil have repeatedly forced schools to close.
Children with computers and internet access managed to keep learning remotely. Unfortunately, the majority of Haiti’s children, lacking the connectivity and devices, faced severe and prolonged interruptions in their education. Many lacked connectivity, devices, and safe spaces to learn.
PRODEV works to close that gap. For the past five years, we’ve worked with local and international partners, parents, educators, and communities to provide safe, inclusive education and trauma informed support for children in underserved neighborhoods, even in the most challenging circumstances.

CHILD PROTECTION
PRODEV’s zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and exploitation guides every aspect of our work. Through classroom protocols, teacher training, parent outreach, and community education, we prioritize awareness, prevention, and rapid response.
In a society where children’s needs are often overlooked, our policies place their safety and dignity first. Students learn their rights and are encouraged to report any physical, verbal, or sexual abuse.
We strictly prohibit inappropriate relationships, corporal punishment, and all forms of abusive behavior. There are clear procedures ensure swift and fair action when concerns arise.
Beyond the classroom, we help protect children from neglect, exploitation, and violence through emergency response, child-friendly spaces, mental health support, and community-based training. We also work with local partners to strengthen laws and policies that safeguard children.
SCHOOL-BASED PROJECTS
Beyond the classroom, PRODEV’s school-based projects help students build the critical skills they need to apply their education in the real world. These hands-on initiatives strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, while boosting student engagement, curiosity, and motivation. Programs like our school garden spaces, Jaden Lekòl, PRODEVTEK, our Civic leadership initiatives build confidence and nurture essential 21st-century skills such as creativity, time management, and communication

JADEN LEKÒL
PRODEV is committed to hands-on, transformative education that connects learning to real life., Jaden Lekòl serves as a living classroom with multiple purposes.
Through experiential gardening, nutrition education, and environmental stewardship, students develop pride in farming while gaining practical knowledge and skills that support food security and environmental resilience. The program also integrates cultural pride and STEM education, helping students understand the science behind agriculture while honoring Haiti’s rich traditions.
Jaden Lekòl nurtures confident, capable learners who are prepared to contribute to their communities and build a more sustainable future for Haiti.

PRODEVTEK
PRODEVTEK prepares Haiti’s youth for a digital future by providing access to coding, robotics, and essential technology skills. In communities where hands-on exposure to technology is rare, PRODEVTEK bridges the digital divide by giving students direct experience with 21st-century tools that foster problem-solving, creativity, and innovation. This exposure transforms curiosity into confidence and potential into possibility.
More than a technology program, PRODEVTEK is a powerful platform for empowerment. It ensures that children do not feel excluded from the rapidly evolving digital world but instead see themselves as capable participants in it. Through PRODEVTEK, students gain confidence, develop critical skills, and recognize that they have a place in the global technology landscape, not left behind, but moving forward. By learning to problem-solve, create, and innovate, children begin to see themselves as future engineers, technicians, and leaders in an increasingly digital global economy.

CIVISM & LEADERSHIP
PRODEV schools prepare young people to become engaged citizens who contribute to their communities. Our civic education program begins early. Students learn the core ideas of civic engagement, reflect on why participation matters, and discover how their voices can create positive change. Teachers receive an implementation guide, project templates, and tools that support student responsibility and cooperative work, helping make civic leadership a daily practice in the classroom.
This approach builds confident, informed, and compassionate young leaders.

SCHOOL-BASED WELLNESS
PRODEV’s school-based wellness programs improve learning and overall well-being by providing essential health services and education. Access to a nurse offers students a trusted place to seek care, which is especially vital for teenage girls who need comprehensive menstrual hygiene support, practical guidance, and stigma-free information.
teacher training
In a country where nearly 80% of teachers lack formal training, PRODEV works alongside educational authorities and stakeholders to strengthen Haiti’s school system and improve learning outcomes.
To meet this challenge, PRODEV delivers hands-on, inclusive training that equips educators and school leaders with the skills to build safe, engaging, and effective classrooms. By integrating classroom management, child-centered pedagogy, school leadership, and modern teaching tools, the program supports teachers across rural and urban communities—helping thousands of students benefit from higher-quality education.
